Why Choose True Life Therapy?

About Individual Counselling
Couples counselling provides a safe, supportive, and confidential space for partners to explore challenges, strengthen communication, and reconnect with one another. Whether you’re navigating ongoing conflict, emotional distance, life transitions, or trust concerns, relationship therapy can support meaningful and lasting change.
My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and evidence-based. I draw from the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help couples understand relationship patterns, strengthen emotional bonds, and move out of unhelpful cycles. Together, we focus on building emotional safety, improving communication, and deepening connection.
Sessions are tailored to your unique relationship — honouring both partners’ experiences, needs, and goals. Rather than taking sides or assigning blame, we work to understand what’s happening beneath the surface and develop practical tools that support healthier ways of relating.
Couples therapy is well suited for partners who want to improve communication, rebuild trust, navigate conflict, or reconnect emotionally. Whether you’re feeling stuck, disconnected, or simply want to strengthen your relationship, you’ll be supported with thoughtful guidance and clear direction.
Our work together unfolds at a pace that feels right for you. In-person couples counselling available in St. John's Newfoundland, along with gentle between-session support and resources to help you stay connected to the work outside of therapy.

How It Works
An intentional, relationship-focused approach to couples counselling in Newfoundland
The Initial Consultation
Our first conversation creates space for both partners to share what’s bringing you to couples therapy and what you hope will change. We’ll explore your relationship goals, current challenges, and begin identifying patterns so we can determine how to best support you moving forward together.
Ongoing Sessions
Sessions typically take place weekly or bi-weekly and are tailored to your relationship’s needs. Drawing from the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and IFS-informed work, we focus on strengthening communication, increasing emotional safety, and shifting unhelpful cycles in a supportive, structured way.
Collaborative Support
Couples therapy is a collaborative process that supports both partners equally. You’ll receive thoughtful guidance, relationship-specific strategies, and tools to help you stay connected to the work between sessions. This approach helps reinforce progress and build lasting change within your relationship.
